Prof. Univ. Dr. H.C. Ovidiu Predescu serves as the First Vice-President of the Union of Jurists of Romania, an Honorary Scientific Researcher at the "Acad. Andrei Rădulescu" Legal Research Institute of the Romanian Academy, an Honorary Member of the Diplomatic Academy in London, and the Founding Director of the "Dreptul" publications, as well as the General Secretary of the Academy of Legal Sciences of Romania.
Prof. Univ. Dr. H.C. Ovidiu Predescu has been a faculty member at several law schools in Bucharest and Brașov, a lecturer and professor at the National School of Political Studies and Public Administration in the capital, and the Rector of the "George Barițiu" University in Brașov. Furthermore, Prof. Univ. Dr. H.C. Ovidiu Predescu is an Honorary Doctorate recipient from the "Dunărea de Jos" University in Galați, the Law Faculty of the University of Oradea, and the "Ștefan cel Mare" University in Suceava. A peerless jurist, he is one of the foremost doctrinaires of Romanian law. His book "Business Criminal Law," of which he is the author, was considered the first work in this field written in Romania, a pioneering volume in the study of law.
Over time, he has published, either as the sole author or in collaboration, over 30 law books (treatises, monographs, courses, manuals), primarily the fruit of his experiences as a magistrate, university professor, and scientific researcher, as well as an editor of legal publications. He is also the author of over 100 studies and articles, particularly in the field of criminal law and human rights. He has received numerous awards from prestigious national and international bodies, including the "Nicolae Titulescu" prize of the Romanian Academy on December 18, 2008; the "Simion Bărnuțiu" prize of the Romanian Academy; and the 2010 Vintilă Dongoroz prize of the Union of Jurists of Romania.
Prof. Univ. Dr. H.C. Ovidiu Predescu is also the author of several works of fiction, among which the volume "In the Shadow of Thought – About Man and the Meaning of His Existence" has become a well-regarded and sought-after book among writers and legal professionals.
